Our mission is to achieve dignity, comfort and choice for all people facing the end of life.

We believe that good end-of-life care is embodied by the hospice approach, which prioritises dignity and respect, seeks to relieve pain and distress, and facilitates people to live life as fully as possible to the end.

One of the activities of the IHF is the provision of training and staff development programmes on end-of-life care for staff in hospitals and residential care facilities.  One of the most popular staff development programmes offered by the IHF is a day-long workshop called ‘What matters to me’.   This is specifically designed for staff working in community hospitals/long-term care settings. The aim of the programme is to Improve end-of-life care by enhancing communication skills so that staff at all levels are better able to engage in discussions with residents, throughout their time in the hospital/care home, about what is really important to them.  For further details of this workshop, please contact the IHF directly at http://hospicefoundation.ie/education-training/professional-development-courses/].
