Thursday October 17, 2024

Nursing Homes Ireland (NHI) welcomes the publication of the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) report, “15 Years of Regulating Nursing Homes”. The report highlights the ongoing commitment to high standards of care and the positive impact of the regulatory framework on the quality of life for residents, supported by nursing home care providers and staff across the sector.

CEO Tadhg Daly’s Statement

Tadhg Daly, CEO of Nursing Homes Ireland, commented:
“We welcome HIQA’s report and acknowledge the essential role that regulation has played in supporting high standards of care over the past 15 years, which has been thoroughly embraced throughout the sector. This is a testament to all nursing home providers and their dedicated staff who, every day, ensure that residents across the country receive compassionate, high-quality care.

“Nursing home staff and providers of care are the foundation of our sector, and their unwavering commitment to person-centred care is truly admirable. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with HIQA and all stakeholders to uphold and enhance these standards in the years ahead.”

Education and Training Initiatives

NHI Members are provided with ongoing support through training and education opportunities that focus on relevant areas of practice. Over the last four years, NHI’s Strategic Clinical Nurse Expert has led a series of webinars for members, specifically addressing palliative and end-of-life care.

Additionally, we have co-funded education initiatives with LHP Skillnet, which focus on care planning and residents’ rights, ensuring these are inclusive of end-of-life care needs.
