Bonus payment for nursing home workers welcomed by NHI
Wednesday January 19, 202219th January 2022: Nursing Homes Ireland (NHI) welcomes Government announcement that Covid19 frontline healthcare workers will receive a €1,000, tax-free payment. NHI welcomes confirmation from Government the payment will encompass workers in private and voluntary nursing homes. Tadhg Daly, NHI CEO comments: “We are all well aware nursing homes were the very front of the Covid19 frontline. It is entirely appropriate the heroism of the workers in nursing homes across the country is recognised through this payment by Government. NHI is engaged with Department of Health officials with regard to detail of the payment to staff in private and voluntary nursing homes. Today’s announcement is important acknowledgement and recognition of the incredible sacrifice, commitment and dedication that was undertaken by nursing home staff to protect those most susceptible to the Covid19 virus. The decision to hold a day of remembrance and recognition is most appropriate.”
