Assistant Director of Nursing, National Project Lead, Deteriorating Patient Improvement Programme (DPIP)

Mary Bedding is National Project Lead with the HSE National Deteriorating Patient Improvement Programme (DPIP), responsible for implementing an Early Warning System (EWS) for older people in long-term residential care.

With a specialist background in critical care nursing, hemovigilance, and sepsis, Mary has played a central role in developing national sepsis guidelines and education programmes for healthcare staff.

She has led successful pilots of the IRESTORE Residential Older Persons EWS across Ireland and continues to champion patient safety, quality improvement, and the early recognition of deterioration in residential care.
