Professor Jonathan Drennan

Professor of Nursing, University College Dublin

Professor Jonathan Drennan is Professor of Nursing at the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health Systems, University College Dublin. His research focuses on health workforce planning, safe staffing, and the evaluation of health service initiatives.

He has advised on staffing frameworks with the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) in the UK and is a member of the Department of Health’s taskforce on safe nurse staffing in Ireland.

Professor Drennan has led numerous national and European research projects, receiving competitive funding across clinical, higher education, and workforce research areas, and is co-author of the Department of Health’s Expert Review on Nursing and Midwifery.
