Nursing home residents & staff to participate in Reflections broadcast
Wednesday March 16, 202216th March 2022: Reflections is a very special broadcast featuring nursing home residents and staff that will air this coming Friday, 18th March, to coincide with the National Day of Remembrance and Recognition. Over 90 residents and staff from over 20 participating nursing homes will feature in the broadcast that will air on Nursing Homes Ireland YouTube channel at 10am on Friday 18th March.
Reflections, encompasses song, poetry, readings and reflections from nursing home residents and staff.
Tadhg Daly, NHI CEO states: “Residents, families and staff from the nursing home community are coming together to watch this very special broadcast. It marks a very evocative, emotive and poignant piece to mark the National Day of Remembrance and Recognition. Reflections has brought residents and staff together to reflect on what happened in nursing homes and wider society during Covid19. Residents and staff were at the very heart of the pandemic. It is fitting their voices are heard during an important day during which we will remember those we lost during the pandemic and recognise the outstanding efforts of staff in our nursing homes and beyond.”

Furthermore, nursing homes across the country on the National Day of Remembrance and Recognition will display purple and green ribbons to symbolise mourning, sadness, pain and suffering (purple) and rebirth, spring and renewal (green). Nursing homes are also hosting individual commemorative events to mark the day.
Representatives from the private and voluntary nursing home sector will attend the State ceremony that will take place Sunday 20th March at the Garden of Remembrance to commemorate those who died during the pandemic.
