Nursing Homes Ireland Welcomes Government Commitments to Strengthen the Nursing Home Sector
Wednesday January 15, 2025Nursing Homes Ireland (NHI) welcomes the express commitments to nursing home care contained in the new Programme for Government. These pledges underscore the critical role of nursing homes in our society and reflect the impact of NHI’s dedicated advocacy efforts, supported by our committed Members.
Call to Action
While NHI welcomes these commitments as a positive step, we emphasise the urgent need to translate them into concrete actions. NHI will engage actively with the Government, Minister and key stakeholders to ensure the timely and effective implementation of these measures.
Tadhg Daly, CEO of Nursing Homes Ireland, commented:
“These commitments mark significant progress, but they are just the beginning. We will continue to advocate strongly to ensure these promises are delivered without delay.
One immediate priority is the publication of the Fair Deal pricing review within the first 100 days of the Government’s formation. This review is essential for establishing a fair and sustainable funding model for the nursing home sector.
The future of nursing home care depends on meaningful action, and we call on all stakeholders to focus on achieving tangible outcomes for older people and the dedicated professionals who care for them.”
Commitment to Action
NHI assures all stakeholders of its unwavering commitment to working closely with the new Government, the new Minister and key partners to fulfil these promises.
As the unified voice of nursing homes across Ireland, NHI remains dedicated to safeguarding the future of nursing home care and ensuring the highest standards of support for our ageing population.
