Everyday stories of care
Care is at the heart of everything we do. We engage with residents, their families, our member nursing homes and the wider community to support the delivery of high quality person-centred care in private and voluntary nursing homes.
Great communities exist all over Ireland – in every town, village, city. And in every nursing home. So, when the restrictions imposed by COVID-19 began to impact the quality of life for residents, communities across the country rallied around their nursing homes, coming together to care together for the people we care about most.
Community cares about everyone
One story of how communities came together during Covid is the story of the birthday parade at SonasNursing Home Riverview, Ballina, Co Mayo. We meet residents Mary, Martin and Margaret.
We also hear from Ina and Rita, part of the care team at Sonas as well as Frank and Jennifer family members of Beryl, one of the nursing home residents. We explore their worries, fears and hopes for the future.
Through a birthday parade, this beautiful story captures how nursing homes are at the heart of our communities. In difficult times we see the local community in Ballina caring together.
